Description

For a customer-oriented offer after the opening of the Koralm Railway the Murtalbahn needs to serve the timetable hubs in Unzmarkt and Murau. To enable this a significant travel time reduction is required. Several measurements have already been investigated to reach this goal. However, it needs to be clarified if an adaption of the alignment parameters allow for further travel time reduction without cost-intensive realignment measurements. Therefore, several alignment guidelines for Austria, Germany and Switzerland for different track gauges have been investigated. The focus of the analysis is on superelevation, minimal element length and ramp incliniation.
