Project Details
Description
Marine evaporites comprise sodium-potassium-calcium chloride and sulfate minerals precipitated via the evaporation of sea water. The stability of these salt minerals are displayed in the quinary system of the sea water (Na2Cl2-K2Cl2-MgCl2-Na2SO4-K2SO4-MgSO4-H2O) which is required to understand their primary formation and secondary reactions. Related topics are technical applications for mineral extraction and the storage of waste materials in salt deposits.
