Corrosion failures on pipeline isolation couples Isolation couples are used to electrically isolate pipeline sections that are cathodically protected from those that are not. In pipelines that carry conductive liquids - e.g. salty water – this electrical isolation is bridged and corrosion leaks occur at or close by the isolation couple. A system to prevent such pipeline leaks and thus mitigate the risk to people and environment shall be developed.
