Polyolefins with High Glass Transition Temperatures via Transition Metal Catalyzed Polymerizations of Cyclic Olefins

Project: Research area

Project Details

Description

Monoolefins (ethene, propene, 1-alkenes, cycloolefins) are polymeriized via addition polymerisation. Homogeneous and heterogeneous Ziegler-type catalysts, metallocenes, PD-complexes are used as polymerisation catalysts. In laboratory autoclaves the reaction mechanisms and kinetics are investigated (dependence on temperature, pressure, concentration, type of monomer). Cycloolefins are polymerized with Pd-complexes in addition polymerisations or used as comonomers. The properties of the final products are compared to similar polymers obtained from ROMP reactions of cyclic olefins. The processability of the final polymers is tested with a Miniextruder.
