Production of Precipitated Calcium Carbonate (PCC) in a three phase reactor

Calcium carbonate especially PCC is widely used as a filler or a coating pigment in the paper industry and other industrial segments. The opportunities for the production of PCC in the dispersing unit "Ultra Mill" are investigated. The influence of various operation parameters on the product quality is investigated. In addition, the a liquid dropplet which is saturated with caclium ions is supsended in the field and exposed to a CO2 atmosphere. The dropplet is removed from the levitator and analyzed externally. Dependent upon the reaction conditions particle shape and particle size distributions are different.
