Description

The aim of this project is the synthesis, parallel alignment and improvement of the field emission properties of carbon nanotubes. The synthesis approach uses single source precursors, which contain the catalytically active metal as well as the hydrocarbon source. The benefit of this type of precursor over a multicomponent approach is the automatically exact defined ratio of metal to carbon. By using a template based synthesis which employs mesoporous alumina a parallel alignment of carbon nanotubes can be achieved. This allows to optimize the field emisson properties of this type of carbon material.
