TARO - Towards Automated Railway Operation

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

The project covers a variety of topics in the area of optimization and digitalization of railway systems. Within the work package “Future Shunting Systems”, our main task is to identify an evaluate new technologies that allow for a digitalization of shunting processes. Therefore, a simulation model is designed and developed that enables the impact of such technologies on operational key performance indicators, e.g. throughput, retention periods, or resource utilizations. Furthermore, mathematical algorithms to plan and optimize shunting operations with respect to future requirements are developed and evaluated.
