Project Details
Description
This research project analyses options for implementing an area wide road pricing for passenger cars on Austrian roads. In the project, road pricing is seen as a transport policy measure with the three main tasks:
• Implementation of the cost-by-cause principle in the transport sector to support economic efficiency
• Financing of road infrastructure (construction, operation and maintenance)
• Demand management and traffic guidance
Main research topics are on the one hand technological and organisational options for implementation and on the other hand to derive impacts in the fields of traffic, economy, environment and social structure. The main objective is to point out alternative concepts coping with growing problems of motorised passenger-transport and to analyse and show the interrelation of impacts done by road pricing for cars.
