Thermophilic Degradation of Formaldehyde in a Bioscrubber

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

In the production of medium density fiber boards (MDF) high loads of waste gas containing formaldehyde and dust are emitted. During the test phase of an industrial scale bioscrubber for purification of this waste gas under thermophilic conditions the activity and degradation potential of the biocenosis was monitored and evaluated. Further investigations should lead to an optimization of the degradation process and a characterization of the mixed microbial population with regard to similar applications.
