Trigon-67 and Trigon-69 / The influence of pop culture in contemporary Styrian architecture and design.

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

Descriptive section: the influence of pop culture in the Styrian cultural area, particularly through the group of architects Archigram (GB), was reflected in the temporary architectures of the Trigon 67 exhibition (5.9. - 15.10.1967) on the grounds of Künstlerhaus Graz. The subject of "Ambienti" induced sixteen artists from Austria, the former Yugoslavia and Italy to realise their spatial ideas in the form of a total art work. The exhibits and Buildings of Trigon-67, in Graz along with the works, as well as "Kiosk-67" by the slovenian architect and designer Sasa Mächtig, are examined as to their conception of space and documented here as a means of demonstrating the common features and differences in architecture and design in general. Trigon-69 widened the concept of "Ambienti" to an urban Dimension. Analytical section: based on the work of Ernst Cassirer ( 1874-1945 ) Philosophie der symbolischen Formen ( 1923/25/29 ) in which he analyses different thoughts on architectural space with regard to space, time and light ( cf. E. Cassirer, Vol. II, Chapter II ). Special attention is given there to the elements of Mythical Thinking and the associated conception of space compared to cognitive, physically measurable space. The problem of the research project consists in the shift in the focal issues of the art of the sixties in terms of their revival at the turn of the century. Completion in 2007.
