Virtual Reality

Project: Research area

Project Details

Description

Virtual Reality is the simulation of artificial environments for the purpose of life like, very realistic experiences. The goal is to immerse the user and stimulate all senses. Obviously the sight is our main target. This can be experienced, for example, in the DAVE, our definitely affordable virtual environment. The DAVE is a cubicle with 3.30 m wide walls consisting of four active stereo screens and head tracking. Being totally immersed also requires to interact with the virtual world in unusual and innovative ways. Applications for Virutal Reality are for example: - Visualisation of not yet existant places and objects - Learning in dangerous situations - or with expensive equipment - Evaluation of tasks in a controlled environment
