The strength of metal plastics joins can be improved, by placing pins on a metal surface using the cold metal transfer (CMT) technique. This project aims to find a model in order to describe the behavior of such joints. In doing so, the mechanical properties of a single pin are investigated using finite element methods (FEM). Based on the findings of a single pin, a mechanical analogous model for a single pin metal-plastics joint shall be developed. This analogous model is then used to describe the mechanical properties of a joint consisting of a whole array of pins.
