Project Details

Description

This research field is concerned with wind-tunnel design and measurement techniques. Two low-speed aerodynamic wind-tunnels and a boundary layer wind-tunnel are available at the institute for the purpose of investigations of the flow around bodies. These facilities were planned at the institute. The detailed design was performed mainly together with students and the manufacturing was done at our own workshop, except the fans and the electrical power supply. For the determination of the resulting aerodynamic forces (magnitude, direction and location) two six-component-wind-tunnel balances were also developed, designed and manufactured at the institute. Another task is the further development of measurement techniques (data acquisition and processing) for pressure, velocity and force measurement. Initially, all necessary computer programs were developed at the institute. Currently, commercial software is applied for data acqusition purposes.
