Abstract

A novel compact filtering antenna (Filtenna) using groove gap waveguide (GGW) technology is presented. The use of GGW structures built by defected periodic metallic posts is an attractive way to achieve high-performance and at the same time, low-cost microwave devices and antennas. The proposed antenna consists of a slotted GGW array antenna operating in Ku-band frequencies which is effectively fed through a fourth-order chebyshev bandpass filter. The proposed Filtenna exhibits good out-of-band suppression and high gain radiation pattern.
