Abstract
In recent years several distinct methods for mixed-mode load-pull measurements have been proposed. These methods use different ways of connecting impedance tuners to the device under test. In this contribution three types were analysed analytically and compared to each other. One of them is proposed for the first time in this paper. Measurements with a physical device using a passive real mixed-mode load-pull measurement system were carried out to back the analytical findings. The analysis shows the limitations, benefits and disadvantages of each considered method. The new method is able to increase the tuning range of passive load-pull systems in exchange for more complicated tuning.
