Abstract

In this paper, the vector extension of the Jiles-Atherton hysteresis model is modified to predict both alternating and rotational field strength variations observed in a nonoriented silicon steel sheet. The model parameters are changed to be functions of the magnitude and direction of flux density, and the anhysteretic magnetic characteristics are identified from several unidirectional alternating B(H)measurements. We demonstrate that the modified vector Jiles-Atherton model can predict both alternating and rotational field strength variations with better accuracy than the “basic” approach.
