Abstract

The change towards electrification of automotive drivetrains requires not only the development of new architectures, but also new methods for condition monitoring. Temperature measurements and lubrication condition evaluation with transparent housings and visual assessments must be extended. THEISSL systems GmbH has developed a unique foil-based sensor for this task, which can measure the lubrication condition. The measuring system can be attached to the surface of various machine components, breathers or oil lines and thereby provide precise information on the condition of lubrication at the sensing point.
For temperature measurement in wet clutches, THEISSL has developed a 32-channel measuring system for mineral-insulated thermocouples that has significantly more measuring channels than standard measuring devices. This allows the temperature distribution to be acquired in much greater detail.
The measuring signals from the temperature sensors as well as THEISSL multiflow D sensors are transmitted via a customized telemetry system. With the new method it is now possible to measure not only temperatures, but also lubrication conditions with telemetry systems. This allows the lubrication of drive systems to be precisely optimised for higher performance and efficiency.
