Abstract

This paper examines the reactive power supply of synchronous and hybrid power plants in the field of hydropower. The technical challenges of mathematical verification of grid code requirements are discussed. An analytical load flow calculation method is presented to determine the reactive power supply at the point of connection. Experimental results validate the calculations and highlight the role of transformer tap changers in increasing the reactive power supply.
