Abstract

The control of the slew rate and therefore the use of a slew rate controlled output driver is an appropriate measure to reduce the ground bounce as well as the electromagnetic emission. In this paper we show a new slew rate controlled output driver based on the distributed and weighted technique which significantly reduces the ground bounce amplitude and the radiated electromagnetic emission compared to a standard digital tapered output driver. We present the radiated electromagnetic emission of the IC, which was measured using the TEM-cell method.
