Abstract

Fragmentation was carried out for coarse crystalline disordered titanium monoxide of stoichiometric composition TiO containing up to 16 at.% of structural vacancies in each titanium and oxygen sublattices. According to X-ray diffraction analysis, the fragmentation attained the nanometric size of titanium monoxide particles. In spite of the small size of the nanoparticles (about 30 nm) and high degree of induced microstrains of the crystal lattice (~0.57%), their atomic structure retained the main features of the disordered cubic structure of coarse crystalline titanium monoxide with the space group Fm-3m.
