Abstract

For the occupant protection, novel seat positions and sitting postures of the occupants implicate challenges while driving automatically. The EU Horizon 2020 Programme funded research project "OSCCAR: Future Occupant Safety for Crashes in Cars" unites 21 international partners, who collectively investigate a novel simulation-based approach to safeguard occupants in traffic accidents, under project coordination of Virtual Vehicle Research. Virtual human body models are intended to support the traditionally used crash test dummies with the assessment and homologation of future vehicles using computer simulation.
