Abstract

Nonlinear frequency mixing in gases has become a powerful method for the generation of coherent tunable radiation in the vacuum ultraviolet (VUV) and even in the windowless region below 104 nm, the extreme vacuum ultraviolet (XUV)/1/. With the use of high-power dye lasers as fundamental light source VUV or XUV light of narrow spectral width and high spectral brightness can be produced, as it is necessary for high resolution spectroscopy.
