Abstract
This publication considers hydrogen (H2) powertrains for non-road mobile machinery. The potentials and the difficulties of the powertrain concepts are examined in detail. Both the H2 combustion engine and the H2-fuel cell are promising concepts to reduce CO2 emissions in the sector of non-road mobile machinery. Especially the fuel efficiency will be analyzed in detail for each powertrain concept using real measurements of a telescopic handler in real-world applications. The fuel consumption of both concepts will be determined and compared by means of a simulation based on measurement data of a reference vehicle. Finally, an outlook on further parameters for a practical implementation is given.
