Abstract

A measure of the quality of coupling nodes in non-conforming meshes along the sliding surface is introduced as the stiffness of the coupling. It is shown that the stiffness can be improved by increasing the number of master nodes. The new approach is verified using a simple example involving motion-induced eddy currents. The steady-state reference solution is obtained by a conforming mesh using the velocity term and compared to a time transient simulation, coupling a stationary mesh to a non-conforming moving one.
