Abstract
The paper states a brief introduction in unsaturated soil mechanics. This article not show new concepts, but tries to back the faith and interest in unsaturated soil mechanics, not only in research, but also in design, laboratory and field testing activities. This issues are a requirment seeing that there are situations in wich classical mechanics does not offer accurate solutions at nowadays geotechical engineering problems.
