Abstract

We have detected a strong azimuth dependence of the adsorption dynamics of hydrogen on a Pt(110)(1×2) surface. Adsorption on the (1 ×2) reconstructed surface is found to be governed by the (111) microfacets of the missing row structure. Furthermore we have observed a low temperature α-state in the thermal desorption spectra comparable to the α-states for other fcc (110) surfaces.
