Microperforated sound absorbers have a wide range of properties that make these absorber concepts particularly suitable for use in the field of aeroacoustics. Besides the frequency-specific absorption properties, they have hygienically
cleanable surfaces, fire resistance, low space requirements, and, when installed correctly, a low pressure drop. Based on practical problems such as heat pumps, air conditioning ducts and HVAC systems, it is shown how microperforated sound
absorbers can be integrated into industrial products, thus reducing the sound emissions of the overall systems. The designed concepts focused on high aerodynamic efficiency along with high absorption properties. In addition, the developed simulation methodology can be used to simulate the absorption properties of the sound absorbers, allowing acoustic optimization to be carried
out during the initial design process.
