Abstract

Scientific literature predicts a significant rise in energy demand over the next decades. Optimizing energy systems is a key step toward reducing energy related greenhouse gas emissions. Recent studies show that active consumer participation and the integration of modern information and communications technologies are key techniques for successfully streamlining energy systems. The main objective in the GameOpSys research project is to develop a means to accurately predict the energy consumption of buildings based on patterns in smart meter data and user-generated input. To do so we propose a user-centered software system for communication between building occupants and energy system operators.
