Abstract
The results from several sets of direct shear tests performed with both constant normal load
and constant normal stiffness on various phyllites are discussed. Tests were performed both parallel and perpendicular to the foliation with different boundary conditions. The results are discussed focusing on the differences in behavior associated with the different boundary conditions and the rock sample quality.
