Abstract
In this paper, an overview of a novel home energy storage system is presented. The aim of the system is the utilization of community solar panels in urban environments with decentralized energy storage at the household level. An increase in the total energy production from renewable energy sources as well as a reduction in energy costs for the consumer are the obvious benefits of such a system. The key focus of the paper presented is to model, design, and optimize a Dual Active Bridge that serves as a low-voltage grid-battery interface for the proposed storage system. A state-of-the-art loss model of the Dual Active Bridge is presented along with a novel optimization method intended for total power loss minimization.
