Moisture within natural stone, from time to time in combination with various salts, is one of the most severe and most costly deterioration origin at historic buildings. We have therefore designed a wireless measurement system, which can be permanently installed to continuously monitor the electrical impedance of a structure in combination with the environ-mental conditions. This instrumented monitoring allows the acquisition of information on its moisture content, both with and without salts. A joint analysis including the supplemental measured parameters may be used to draw conclusions on the dynamic interaction between moisture and salt transport.
