Abstract

With the increasing importance of quantitative magnetic resonance imaging (qMRI) phantoms for quality assurance gain more and more interest. The purpose of this thesis was the construction and Evaluation of phantoms that provides verification of quantification methods with three different contrast mechanisms. Tissue-mimicking relaxation times by simple relaxation effects were created with the doping of distilled water. As second contrast mechanism different fat fractions ranging from 0 to 100%vol were created as emulsions of peanut oil and agarose gel. The last type adds to solutions with physiologically relevant relaxation times macromolecules that create a magnetization transfer (MT) effect to the phantoms. The created phantoms were evaluated with respect to B0 field homogeneity, B1 field homogeneity, relaxation times, fat fraction and MT parameters.
