Abstract
Authors have discovered a novel method for the selective synthesis and isolation of branched higher silicon hydrides on a preparative scale starting from Si(SiH3)4, which is easily accessible from com. available Si2Cl6 in preparative quantities by a std. literature procedure. The simple preparative approach avoids the handling of pyrophoric gases, such as SiH4 and Si2H6, and thus offers considerable potential for the systematic investigation of phys. and chem. properties of defined higher silicon hydrides and their derivs., which are of fundamental importance for future applications of this class of compds. for the deposition of n- or p-doped silicon layers.
