Abstract
The application of thermal-mechanical coupled simulations gains rising importance for the design of a hot forming process, due to the increasing amount of hot formed parts in modern car bodies. State of the art simulation software and hardware allow the engineer to build the forming model completely based on solid elements, rather than simplified shell elements for the tool bodies. Through this it is possible to simulate the temperature history of both, the blank and the tool, lead-ing to more detailed results of the hot forming process. To ensure a high quality of the results, temperature-dependent material and system parameters must be available for the tools and the blank.
Within this work, these parameters are obtained through metamodel-based optimization of a FEM model with temperature measurements of a test rig. The results are implemented in a forming simulation model, built up from solid elements. To validate the simulation of this forming model, temperature results will be compared to measurement data from a real hot forming tool.
