N2 - The scope of Session 2 has been jointly defined by the Session Advisory Group and the Technical Committee. It covers Power Quality (PQ), supply reliability and the general concept of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) including related safety issues in electricity distribution systems. In this sense, session 2 deals with any network disturbance phenomena, both from equipment and system perspective. This includes flicker, unbalance, slow voltage variations, distortion in the frequency range from DC up to 500 kHz as well as events like sags or swells. Furthermore, the session covers all aspects of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) including emission, immunity, its coordination and the related standardization. Conducted and radiated electromagnetic interferences, electric and magnetic fields (EMF) as well as earthing issues are also addressed. Finally, this session discusses PQ related activities in standardization and regulation, the impact of interruptions on supply reliability as well as PQ system monitoring and advanced PQ data analysis. The aim of this special report is to present a summary of the present challenges in PQ and EMC, based on all selected papers of Session 2 (117 papers).
