Static recrystallization phenomena after cold deformation of AA6082 aluminium alloy

Description

After impact extrusion, recrystallization occurs during subsequent heat
treatments. However, the developed microstructure is heterogeneous within
the deformed components due to strain and temperature gradients generated
during cold forming. In this work, we conducted compression tests and heat
treatments of soft-annealed AA6082 to emulate the microstructure during
processing by impact extrusion. Our work investigates the effect of the stored
energy due to deformation on static recrystallization (SRX) during solid
solution heat treatment (SSHT) to determine the recrystallization kinetics.
