The economic optimisation of water supply while guaranteeing and further improving the high level of quality is a basic prerequisite for relieving the burden on public budgets, customer satisfaction in terms of high water quality, security of supply, socially acceptable prices and service as well as for the ecological objectives of sustainable water supply. With the benchmarking method - the systematic comparison of companies using key figures - these optimisation potentials can be recorded and the best water supply companies (WVU) can be identified as benchmarks. Their experience in achieving best practices should serve other water supply companies to optimise their services.
