Characterization of micro-domains in LaNi5-foils with AEM

Project: Research area

Project Details

Description

Innovative battery technology based on Hydrogen storing materials has become increasingly important. In particular, a special modification of LaNi5 seems to be a promising high-capacity storage medium for hydrogen. However, changes of lattice parameters introduced in the production process of such foils or dopants like Oxygen can dramatically alter the storage capacity. To better understand these phenomena in such materials, TEM is used in combination with EDX, EFTEM and EELS.
