Chip - Competence through highly intelligent production with a unique temperature sensor in milling tools

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

Objective of the project is to improve the efficiency of milling hard-to-machine materials using solid carbide end mills. First sub-targets is the implementation of an integrated temperature measurement in solid carbide blank for process optimization and data collection for thermally sensitive materials. Second sub-target is the in-situ determination of further milling process parameters focusing on the thermal damage. Methods of innovative data analysis should be used to analyze deterioration mechanisms of the tool and workpiece, whereby the grinding process of tool production shall be included as third sub-target.
