Description

SEM and FEG-SEM characterization of fine particles/aerosols documenting particle formation, chemical composition and micro-mineralogy. Bulk chemical data is discussed in context of the composition of individual particles. Further goals of this study are: Does the particle spectrum reflect other sources (contact metamorphism of carbonates and evaporites) for gases than magmatic contributions to the on-going activity? Does the condensation of fine particles influence remote gas measurements, like UV corelation spectrometer (COSPEC) and Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR)? Interaction between volcanic, gas and particles and the filter material.
