IBM-Sys - Intelligent coating systems on multi-metallic composite structures for automotive production

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

The aim of the IBM-Sys project is to develop a process for corrosion protection treatment and subsequent electrocoating (ETL) of steel-aluminium-magnesium composite parts (e.g. car bodies) without prior offline coating of the magnesium parts. For the joining technology to be developed for this purpose, the processes CMT, FSW and self-pierce riveting seem to be promising with which multi-metal composites of steel H260PD+Z100MBO, aluminium 6016 T4 and magnesium AZ91 HP are to be produced. The aim of this exploratory project is to achieve TRL 3 (proof of concept).
