This work mainly deals with the possibilities for the identification of core competencies. The starting point is formed by the literature, but also by actual enterprise examples. Due to this a pragmatic framework is developed. Nevertheless, not only present core competencies are taken into consideration, but also potentials for the future. Another aspect of the work discusses the performance of core competencies and the possibilities for their amplification. Therefore strategies are introduced. These strategies vary because of the following parameters: the position in the core competence-life cycle, external as well as internal publicity.
