rethink_LTprocessing - Process combination of peeling and sawing of large diameter roundwood: Peeled Boards for yield-optimized timber construction products

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

The manufacturing process of peeled logs in board thickness dimension per se and in combination with a subsequent sawing or peeling process of the residual roll is considered to be largely unexplored to date. This concerns, among other things, the limits of possible peeling thicknesses depending on the log dimension and the pre-processes as well as their optimization, the effects of possible pre-processes on sawn timber products of the residual roll, the peeling process itself and process parameters optimized in this respect, the possibility of industrially drying and subsequently classifying (sorting) such peeled products. The basic research project "rethink_LTprocessing" has the aim to create essential basics for the treatment of these questions as well as to illuminate the potentials of this combination process and those of the peeled and sawn wood raw materials produced thereby for the production of load-bearing wood construction products. In the course of this, an optimal setting between the combined processes of peeling and sawing is to be found and the potentials of the wood raw materials produced in this way are to be utilized in the best possible way in homogeneous / combined rod-shaped and surface-shaped load-bearing wood construction products that are optimized in terms of structure and shape.
