Some Observations on Eccentricity Effects in small single Phase Induction Motors

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

Small induction motors with auxiliary resistance starting windings suffer on low starting torque reduced by mechanical eccentricity further. Simple standstill tests of assembled motors seem not sensitive enough to help discriminate and eliminate the eventually built in eccentricity effects. The project therefore deals with the influence of eccentricity on torque and currents of a running machine aiming at hints for an applicable discrimination method for undue eccentricity.
