UBA Flüssiger Verkehr - Liquid traffic for climate protection and air pollution control

Project: Research project

Project Details

Description

Sustainable transport policies deal with measures to reduce transport-related emissions. In this research project of the German Federal Environment Agency, road traffic related emissions are quantified. Furthermore, measures to harmonize traffic flow on urban roads and motorways are being assessed. Traffic engineering measures such as optimized traffic signal control and traffic-dependent speed limits and overtaking bans are simulated with traffic flow models. Numerical emissions models are applied to calculate changes in traffic induced emissions. Based on detailed calculations of three sample cities and extensive empirical data on load-dependent travel speeds, a forecast is made for the German road network.
