Abstract
The operation of modern biomass combustion plants with high efficiencies and low emissions requires advanced control strategies. In this paper the controller design for a medium-scale biomass furnace based on input-output-linearization is presented. A fourth order nonlinear model with four inputs and four outputs forms the basis for controller design. Due to a time-delayed input the stabilization of the internal dynamics is challenging. Two stabilization methods are suggested and a stability analysis is given. Finally, experimental results are presented and discussed.
