Abstract
Fibre reinforced ultra high performance concrete allows for thin-walled construction elements which provide aesthetic as well as structural advantages. Compared to conventional reinforced concrete walls the slenderness of such plates will grow significantly and as a consequence the buckling failure will become more relevant. Thus, new rules for its structural design have to be developed. This paper aims at the fundamental understanding of the load carrying behaviour of thin-walled UHPFRC panels under compression in order to show adequate ways for deriving calculation models. The main item of the work are buckling experiments covering a wide range of slenderness. The test setup as well as the loading control are designed in a way that abrupt collapse is avoided, which leads to absolutely reliable results of the ultimate load. Extensive and sophisticated numerical investigation complete the measurements and makes interpretation easier.
