This article is an editorial for the proceedings of the "Very Large Internet of Things (VLIoT 2017)" workshop in conjunction with the 43th International Conference on Very Large Data Bases (VLDB 2017), which takes place in Munich, Germany, from August 28th to September 1, 2017.
