Abstract

In the event of an earth fault in the medium-voltage network, the permissible touch voltages for the entire electrical installations must be complied with. The simplest proof is usually provided by measuring the impedance to earth of all substations. In certain situations (e.g., substation in mountainous terrain), performing the earthing measurement faces challenges. This article provides a solution for mathematical verification with impedance to earth of a cable connected neighbouring substation with excellent earthing conditions. Case studies are simulated and generalized using a Matlab Simscape model.
