    Abstract

Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and total harmonic distortion analysis (THDA) are essential measurement methods for testing and developing proton exchange membrane (PEM) fuel cells. This research work further enhances these methods. It uses a multi-channel approach for spatially resolved impedance measurement. The new developed system is capable of performing current and voltage measurement at a high sampling rate simultaneously on up to 100 channels. Subsequent digital signal processing turns it into a versatile measurement tool for EIS, THDA as well as the determination of the current density in the cross section of a PEM fuel cell.
